I sewed not one, but two jackets. What can I say, I got on a roll and jackets happened. Photos )

I decided to photograph the older fetish pouches/treasure baskets/whatevers. The hummingbird nest pouch and the one I made for Aged Mum are already here on DreamWidth; just use the knotless netting tag. Photos here )

I finished one of my little waxed linen necklace pouches. This one turned into Summer because the way the thread and raffia blended looked like the summer sky. So it's sort of a sea, land, air in summer thing. It's not as embellished as most of my work but this is what it seemed to want. Photos )

The embroidery is done. Next, I haul all the boxes of cotton batiks out of the den closet and see if there's anything that'll work for the backing and binding the edges.

Apparently I uploaded the photo for Lesson 1 and forgot to post it. To be fair, that was also the day the garage across the back alley burned down. I may have been a wee bit distracted. Better late than never )

Okay then. I finally got through Lesson 2 of the Creative Thread Embroidery Class. Lesson 3 is filling stitches and finishing. I'm tired of this and just want it done, honestly. I will not be making it into a needlebook as in the class. It'd make an awkwardly one, and I don't use needlebooks anyway. I have too many needles. So here's the project so far. Photo )

After at least 15 years, the shirt is finished. I think I was working on it when Aged Dad started going back and forth to the hospital in 2019 and had to set it aside. Anyway, yay, I guess. Behold. )

I finished a thing - two, actually, little Japanese bags. Photos )

It is a truth probably not universally acknowledged that a vintage pincushion made from a seashell is in want of appropriately themed pins. Nevertheless, when this pincushion surfaced in a box of stuff I was putting away, I couldn't resist. Photo )

This one will be my new dice bag (not that I game anymore, but who doesn't like the shiny math rocks). Although it was really more of an excuse to try out a really cool bag design. Here be photos )

I finished a project! I made a fabric-wrapped coiled basket nest for the owl plushies using the techniques from Tammy Gilley's Treasure Basket class (see here). Photos follow )

Since I fell into enamel pin collecting, I've also been digging out my old pins to add to the collection. I've been trying to find the JPL pins from Aged Dad, and yesterday I remembered where they might be.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, once upon a time, in the age of the dinosaurs, I used to make costumes and dress up* and go to cons. Back in the 80s I embroidered a black canvas purse to carry at said cons. After some rummaging, I found it. There were the JPL pins, but I'd forgotten about the awesome Blake's 7 pins.

I'm going to add all my new SF related pins and hang the bag in my studio. With all the new pins I suspect I'll need to reinforce it, so I'll get a piece of plastic canvas to stick inside and pin into. Anyhoo, I took a picture, because the embroidery isn't half bad. The embroidery is done in DMC floss blended with Balger Glow filament, which glows in the dark. The planets are cross-stitch, the rest is freehand with lots of French knots, the Liberator is part iron-on holo film and part embroidery. I used to do a LOT of embroidery.

*Mainly Star Wars, Dr Who, and Blake's 7, with a few historical costumes thrown in.

†I still have the charts! Oh dear, now I want to do some more space stuff.

I declared this last weekend Sewing Weekend. The plan was to complete a couple of small sewing projects, then close up Arachne and reorganize a bit.

Well, I finished one project, a second cover for my lap pillow*. The little silk drawstring bags are still in progress. So it's Sewing Week. Whatever. Anyway, here's a picture. I actually made two covers; Kitty asked for one just like mine for her old crib pillow. Since her pillow is the same size as mine, it was easy.

I used a Halloween print quilting cotton fabric from Joann's. The pillow is a baby size, big enough for the tablet or a book, but there's still enough space for Shadow to fit next to me.

Envelope pillowcase for crib-size lap pillow, cotton with fortune card print.

*The other cover being the Capt Marvel print.

I did a thing. It actually looks very much like I imagined. Yay. Photos hereafter )
