This is what I've been working on all week. The batty stuff was there first, including the plush bats hanging from the ceiling. I like bats. I redid the middle and bottom shelves and some of the side nooks to display my Halloween miniatures and some of the maneki neko. The vintage needlebooks and cards of snaps on the back wall are left over from the previous display of vintage sewing stuff, Lego minifigs etc. I still like looking at them so they get to stay. I'm especially fond of the ATOMIC rocketship needlebook.

The felt cone witches were kits from Artgirlz; most of the Halloween decor came from Michael's. I've been collecting the minis for a few years now. I was displaying them on the table for our future train layout, but this year Paul objected. Too bad, now I can enjoy them all year round.

Today I moved other things from one shelf to another and made a pile to pack up. Tomorrow I will hang my new bat mobile from the ceiling with the other mobiles and fairies and bats, and it'll be done. At least until I get another great idea.

In addition to the laundry today, I did an art thing. Or at least art-adjacent. Clicky For Photo )

I had this idea for a decoration for my little wee studio. Originally it was going to be "CREATE" in wooden building blocks, and then I found a whole tub of them at the Goodwill for cheap so I embellished a bit. "TIME TO CREATE" was inspired by the Moomintrolls; Moominpapa has dragged everyone off to a lighthouse so he can write the Great Novel. Next morning, Moominmama wakes him up early. Anyway, I think it's funny*. Photos and all that )

Paul is taking tomorrow and Friday off for his annual manly man vision quest aka driving far away vacation. He was planning on heading out directly from work, but decided to drop by to pick up a few things he forgot and/or thought of later. So he did, and he's on his way north to someplace around Coalinga, to spend the night at a motel, then the next few days driving back along the San Andreas fault.

But that's not important here. What is important is that I decided to take a day off (ha, as if) to work on a small shiny thing project. And here it is. )

My collection of vintage My Little Ponies, all over my "studio" (actually a 10x10 "bonus room" where I also have to keep most of my work, but it's mine all mine). cut for photos )

I still have to figure out where to hang it, and find something to use as a rod, but that can wait a bit. The important thing is, it's done. Rainbow colors, yay )

I have abandoned all hope of getting back to one of the big projects, and am instead working on things I know I can finish in a few days. So... )

So this morning I drove to the Anaheim Toyota dealership with my recall notice. Then I sat in the waiting area, and sat, and sat, and sat... and sat and sat and sat some more. )
