Another Project Finished
Apr. 23rd, 2009 09:05 amOnce upon a time, there was an online class...
Last September, I took a class in Icon Doll making from Chaska Peacock. I finished the first doll, started a second, and then got stalled. And then real life got in the way, and what with one thing and another, the poor little thing sat there, just a pathetic styrofoam cone wrapped in mulberry paper. I decided that the face didn't work, so I took it off and found a new one, and there it all sat in a basket until last Monday, when I decided to try working on it again.
Apparently my subconscious had been mulling the whole time, because it went very quickly, and I finished yesterday.
So. Here is my Icon of Inspiration. She has a Celtic knotwork talisman for infinite inspiration, pearls for wisdom, acorns and oak leaves (on her belt buckle) for strength, patience and "inner fire", and a crystal ball for tracking down those elusive creative ideas.

Materials: Styrofoam cone, wooden base and other bits, mulberry paper (duplex turquoise/purple), assorted silver trim, hand-dyed silk velvet, netting with sparkles, pewter charm hands, Celtic knot and ring charm, acrylic marble, ribbons and cords, polymer clay face, Mexican tin frame, Lumiere paints and the usual glues.
She's about 7½ inches tall.
It occurs to me that her profile rather resembles that of Her Majesty Queen Victoria.
