Cat Art Doll the Second

Finished!
This is Bast, a Mewse. Because everyone knows how much cats love to help you work. She has papyrus wings and carries a scroll, so she can catch ideas before they get away.
Materials: Ceramic face, matboard, paints, glues, tulle, silk sari strips, and silk shibori ribbon, cords, vintage brass stampings and assorted beads, mulberry and papyrus papers, mica sheet, papier mâché box. They're hard to see, but her wings have six-pointed star earring findings on them.

Closeup of Bast's heart box: I started out thinking Egypt because the turquoise face reminded me of faience, which made me think of cartonnage for the box, like a mummy case. Those are sometimes made of recycled bits of documents, so I decoupaged the box with bits of handmade paper with what looks like ancient script, then brushed over it lightly with white, then gold paint. The mica cover makes it harder to see the contents, but there's a solar disc made from a vintage brass stamping, a lapis donut, and a vintage Egyptian pendant, two lotus pendants and a scarab. Please admire the Chinese knot on her sash, I tied it myself.

And both cats.

Also I got a better picture of Thera, so I've updated that post.
