Sigh

So, one of those other shoes I've been expecting has dropped on my head; the bus drivers have walked out.

Emily and I have come to an accomodation regarding emergency transportation:

She doesn't mind getting to school at 9AM one or two days a week, but the rest of the time I'll drive her down there at 10AM.

Tomorrow, there's also the problem of the mattress delivery, but since I won't know until tonight what the delivery window is, all I can do is worry.

Her economics class is from 11AM to 2PM, so she'll have to hang around the college library until Paul gets there on his way home from work, around 4PM.

I think I can work around Kitty's checkup appointment next week, and Emily's was already scheduled before class, but the cats are another matter. Either I'll have to change their 9AM appointment to later in the day, or Paul will have to go in to work very late. Either way, I hope for everybody's sake that the strike is over by then.

At least we have two working cars now; if this had happened while Paul was driving my car two days a week, there would've been real problems. As it is, my schedule will be completely disrupted, for an indefinite period, and once Emily is back to a full schedule in the fall, it's going to get really messy.

I also have no idea what OCTA plans to do about those of us who bought bus passes. If things haven't settled down in a week or so, I'm going to call and harass them. After all, we paid for a full summer pass, dammit, and if my daughter can't use the thing, they owe us some portion of the cost back.

Aside from that, I walked to Ralphs, after dragooning Paul into coming along to sherpa the heavy stuff, and drove to TJs and Staples, which is having a big sale of school supplies this week. Too bad I won't know what Kitty needs until sometime in September, by which time they'll be out of everything important. Walmart and Target will not only be out of everything, they will have packed it all up and put out the Christmas decorations. Pfui.

Anne, wanting someone to do things for me for a change (fat chance of that)
