Well, that was a waste of time
May. 18th, 2007 07:53 pmI was going to render my bodice wearable by replacing the hook side of the clasps with eyes, and lacing it instead of hooking it. So I mailordered more of the clasps (two of which arrived with the wrong eyes, leafy instead of Celtic dragon; I'm waiting to hear back from the shop about replacements).
Then I decided to try lacing the thing by running the cord through the hooks, just in case. It looked terrible.
So I decided to try moving the clasps over to the edge of the front, which meant sewing carefully around the boning. Fortunately, I only took off the top clasp, and sewed on one side before I tested my theory. The gap down the front looked tacky, and I could tell that it would not be comfortable.
So I unsewed the one side of the clasp, and I'm putting the whole thing back the way it was.
I'll just have to lose at least five pounds (ten would be better) so it'll fit me again. Phooey.
This does not seem to be my week for crafting success.
Next, Irish crochet acorns and oak leaves, because I want to make a better version of the pin I made some years ago, now that I know more about constructing artificial flowers and foliage using florist's wire. At least I have lots of crochet cotton; I can waste a lot on mistakes and tangles without running out.
