Fiber Collage Lesson 2

Or, what I did yesterday .
The block, now with major appliqués (batik, blanket stitch in craft thread) and some running-stitch embellishment, just because I knew I wanted it there.

It's 8x8, although the lesson suggested 7x7, because I wanted to use a full-size outline of my hand. I don't know why it was so important the hand be real-size, but it was. My mind is weird.
Edit: I decided it would look better rotated 90° widdershins, so I changed the source image in Photobucket, but it doesn't seem to want to change here. Weird.
Edit the 2nd: LJ was down for a bit, and when it came up, my image had rotated properly. There, that's better.

Date: 2010-05-25 05:26 pm (UTC)It's not unlike the totemic banner I did last year.
This seems to be the new thing in art quilting - lots of handwork and not too much worry about precise corners. Works for me, once I get past needing everything to line up evenly.

Date: 2010-05-25 07:50 pm (UTC)I have decided that it needs to be rotated 90° to the left, so the hand is coming down to touch the sun/flower. It's still in progress, so I can rotate it any way I like. Heh.
