One More Transformative Doll

Lousy pictures, but let's just get this over with and move on.
For some reason I got hooked into slogans/platitudes/bumperstickers/sayings with these dolls.
So she's "Dance Like No One is Watching". I am a lifelong member of the Klutz Klub, and very selfconscious about my appearance and clumsiness. She is all sparkle and movement and light, and she has little wings, not for flying high, but to make her light on her feet and catch her when she trips over her own feet. Her face is a mirror, which I've been wanting to try for a while; it's a mirror of me. The dagger beads at the ends of her hair swish and sparkle and keep time as she dances to her own inner music.
This is also more beadwork in one piece than I've done in a long time. It was fun but eyestraining. It also gives the doll a pretty good heft - you know when you're holding this one. Oh, she's about 4" tall.

Batik fabric in my favorite color, lots of 11° seed beads, iridescent in two shades of teal and crystal, Czech dagger beads (ends of her hair), Czech leaf beads (wings), small Czech glass heart bead, shisha mirror with peyote stitch surround (face).

Date: 2009-07-14 02:16 pm (UTC)How many have I made? Let's see... For this class, three mini dolls, two twig dolls, a paper doll and some journal pages and ATC-sized pages. The dolls are displayed on a French memo board. I have a bit of a display corner going in my little room so I can look at all the art dolls and vision quilts and so on (except for the ones I gave away and the little one hanging on the dresser next to my bed).
The mermaids are in a display of their own with other mermaids, and the Artgirlz felt kit dolls have their own shelf as well.
I think I have more fun playing with them and putting them into little displays than I do actually making them, sometimes.
