One More Time
Jan. 15th, 2009 10:13 amPresenting positively the last photo of the Harvest Icon ever, I promise.

I added some decor - a cornucopia with migajon produce and two small Mexican terracotta pitchers with straw flowers*, and an altar cloth made from some vintage gold lace, with front and back edging carefully unstitched from another length of lace and a black felt undercloth for stability. I'm rather pleased with the altar cloth; I even mitred the corners fairly neatly.
My art doll vision quilts, the Harvest Icon doll, and a basket of silk flowers and office supplies (to which I decoupaged bits of celestial wrapping paper), atop my utility shelves full of jewelery supplies. Also a purple glitter wire tree from Michael's Halloween decor, which is going to be decorated when I figure out exactly how. I'm thinking sparkly sequin leaves, crystals and various charms and beads at the moment, but that's subject to change.

The belfry, with resident bats, one small vampire and a barn owl. The lower shelf holds some of my collection of pincushions and thimbles.

*And let me tell you, that was a bitca to arrange - the flowers are so lightweight and fragile that they kept hopping out of the vessels. I tried filling the containers with fine sand, but that just bent the stems. I finally poured some of my bookbinding glue into the pitchers, arranged flowers very fast and hoped for the best. So far, so good.

Date: 2009-01-15 07:39 pm (UTC)You would not believe how long it took to get those quilts up, not to mention clear the top of the utility shelves, and you will also notice that I'm not showing anyone what the floor looks like (and don't get me started on the piles in the bedroom closet, either).
It's more fun than housecleaning, though, that's for sure.
