Grumble grumble
Sep. 7th, 2008 05:47 pmThe Husband has been assembling my Ikea Mikael file cabinet all afternoon.
He still isn't done, but it's not looking hopeful right now.
The walls are so thick that there's less than 10" of width inside the drawers*, which means that my handmade art papers will have to be folded smaller to fit, and the 8½x11 sheets will only fit lying down, which would make any semblance of order pretty much impossible, as there are many of them.
If Husband takes the bottom off the bottom drawer, I can use hanging files, but only if they're the long legal size, which wastes space and I won't be able to fit all the 8½x11 sheets in, and, oh hell, what a waste of time and money, not to mention the space it'll take up in the studio. I guess I'll have to cull that paper too.
Memo to self: Measure the inside of the [expletive deleted] file cabinet before buying, next time. I trusted the Ikea catalog, and I got what I deserved. It's cute but nearly useless. Caveat emptor, and all that.
I can't wait to see how small the other one's drawers are; probably the bead boxes won't fit in them at all, and I'll have to repackage everything I want to put in. But that's a problem for next weekend; the way things are going, we'll be lucky if he can finish this one today.
At least with those thick walls, the thing is sturdy. Really, really sturdy...
*According to the catalog, its dimensions are:
Width: 14 5/8 "
Depth: 19 5/8 "
Height: 27 1/8 "
Yeah, right. [headdesk] or should that be [headfilecabinet]
