Checking In
Jul. 29th, 2008 01:01 pmJust in case anybody wondered...
Yes, that earthquake, was in my neck of the woods. FYI, Diamond Bar is five minutes or so up the freeway from me. Also FYI, it can't be the Sunnydale Hellmouth, that's north up the coast, so this must be a different one. It's California, we grow Hellmouths like tumbleweeds.
No damage around here, and so far no reports of serious damage or injuries, according to KPCC. It was felt widely, as they say, thoughout the Southland.
The cats are, of course, not amused. I'm keeping them inside, because there have been and will be aftershocks. I see that Shadow has settled on the living room rug with a catnip socky. Last I saw Patches, she was under my bed.
I've heard from Elder Daughter, who was at FCC today, and Husband, who was at work in Irvine, and the Aged Ps in Altadena, and my sister in Vista, down San Diego way, and also Elder Daughter's friend who lives in Victorville, way east of us. Husband is going to call his mum later when the lines aren't so busy.
So far none of the many things that clutter our shelves seem to be damaged; the little bat vessel rolled over on the animal shrine shelf and lost its head, but I found the head on the studio floor, with no injury.
I think I need a liedown. I'm vibrating and babbling, probably from the reaction.
And Bestest Buddy has checked in from downtown LA, also well.
