In which I commit extreme frivolousness.

So, you may remember the time Pres. Putin's-puppet said that California wouldn't have wildfires if we just raked the forest like the Finns*. This is now something of an occasional joke between Paul and me. Because if we can't joke about the National Disgrace, what can we do?

I'm giving Paul an Armstrong's Nursery gift card for Xmas. When I do that, I like to give a little something along with the card so the victim recipient has something to open.

So of course I thought of giving him a rake. But I also thought he'd rather choose his own garden tools. I went looking on eBay and Etsy for a miniature rake, but couldn't find quite the right thing. However, I found a small garden gnome figurine** with a rake. But then I couldn't find any suitable*** small flags of Finland to go with it. So I made my own flags with the printer, PaintShopPro, glue, 1/8" dowel, some gold paint and a couple of half-dome wooden beads from my hoard.

And here they all are. The flags are just over 5" tall and the gnome is about 2½". So cute it makes my teeth hurt.



*Which, while it was a horrible embarrassment to his poor subjects, at least gave us many lovely photos of Finnish people out in the woods with rakes. No Moomins, though, alas.

**Another joke, he professes to hate garden gnomes but we keep giving them to each other.
