So far, I've slayed four of the around-the-house usefuls, found my favorite comfort-clothing longsleeved top so I could wear it today, rethought the fabrics for the mermaid's vision quilt*, and watched Shadow discover Squirrels.

Just one grey squirrel, but it ran across the top of the fence between our yard and the neighbors' (Trespassing! Get it! Get it!), across the front yard, under our car and across and down the street. Shadow was fascinated. She was very good, though - she ran out into the street just as far as the car, then stopped because, as I keep telling her, I like my cats in 3-D, not flat, and the street is no place for good little kitties to play.

Then I decided that what my headache needs is a café mocha from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The rule is (most of the time) that if I want something that's bad for me (ie, chocolate), I have to walk to get it. So off I went, with my canvas grocery bag, to Cost Plus, the bank and CB&TL.

I bought Lifeboat tea (good) and chocolate (bad, but mostly for the girls, so half good**). I did my ATM banking and got my mocha (nonfat milk, good, whipped cream, not so much). Then I walked home.

Now I should really get back to work on the useful-slayage. Patches is sleeping on the clean laundry, though, so I can't put that away. What to do, what to do? Perhaps I should just sit here and sip my mocha for a while...

And now that I've cleaned up the counter by the stove and reorganized the tea collection, I see that we already have half a box of Lifeboat tea. Oh well, it won't go to waste. I really should make everybody try the decaf chocolate tea tonight, and decide if it's worth keeping. How many years has the box been sitting there, and why did I buy it in the first place?

*This means I have to rip out the bottom piece of fabric, but it was bright pink†, and it just wasn't working for me. The nice Fossil Ferns Lagoon bluey-green batik is much more pleasing to my eyes, color wheels and contrasts be damned.

**Chocolate cappuccino marzipan, which is yummy, but I can only eat one square at a time, so it's self-limiting. That's a good, right?

†Not that I have anything against hot pink; I have a hot pink Laurel Burch t-shirt (which I would have liked better if it had been teal or green, but yardsalers can't be choosers), but with a mermaid? I mean, really! The teacher loves the hot colors; she uses them on everything and they look lovely, but it just isn't me.

This sounds like a VERY good day indeed!

(I'm always finding that I buy more of what I already have -- these moments tell me I REALLY LIKE these things!)
