Crow Update
May. 20th, 2005 11:03 amA report from the high school: Emily says that there are three crowlings (chicks?). The largest one was out of the nest and wandering a bit. They have grey beaks, blue eyes, and harsh croaking calls, not the typical "caw" of the adults.
I'm hoping Emily's photos come out.
The honeysuckle in our patio is in full bloom. Walking past the open kitchen windows or out into the patio is like being smacked upside the head with a large scented hammer. I could even smell it from the front door.
The California poppies and geraniums in the front porch planter box are all blooming like crazy, and the portulaca is taking over. The rains, although not quite enough to break the 100-year record, certainly made the flowers happy. Next, unfortunately, come the brush fires; in fact, I think they've already started. It's going to be a nasty hot summer.
