After the bad night and getting up far too early, I went back to bed for a couple of hours. That actually helped; I started playing around with the materials for a birthday present I wanted to make, got going, and [shock gasp] finished it.
It's an optical lens pendant, using the techniques I learned in Sondra Holtzman's The Map as Art class (follow the eponymous tag to see the original class). The image is cut from an old atlas, with a purple glittery star sticker and some appropriate words from an old dictionary that was going to be thrown away. The ribbon is rayon seam binding painted with violet watercolour paint.

So it's finished, and I cleaned up after and took photos, all in one day, and in plenty of time to mail it to the victim, errr, recipient. Not so shabby, I think.
