Ritual Cleansing of the Hive
Jul. 17th, 2008 02:51 pmI think that's the quote. Something like that.
I started with the idea of choosing the next evening-project; something I could work on in my comfy chair while we watched TV. I was also hoping to find the crystal moon pendant that went flying when the cork bulletin board strip suicided off my goddess shrine a few days ago.
So I started sorting through piles and baskets and workbags, and before I knew it, there were things to be put away because they had nothing to do with the projects, which led to getting out boxes of fibers and yarns in the studio and boxes of fabrics in the cave, and the big crate of cross-stitch fabrics, which led to things being culled and set aside to donate to the orphans... And then it was lunchtime, so I ate far too quickly and got back to work.
But it's done, pretty much, and I have a new project - the knitting candy scarf kit I got from Paradise Fibers. It isn't woolly scarf weather, it may never be woolly scarf weather around here again, but it's a finite project taking up very little space, it looks like fun, and fun is good. Of course, I had to find a box with nine compartments to store the nine little balls of yarn, but after some rummaging, I found a tackle box in my hoard that will do. Which meant getting out a different workbag because the one I had stuffed the kit into was too small for the tackle box... Sometimes I spend more time setting up for the project than I do actually doing it.
Oh joy, my basket tree came in the UPS and my Oberon journal with the labyrinth came in the mail, so virtue has been rewarded. Or something like that. The basket tree is assembled (in the closet for now) with baskets displayed on it, including the Faire basket I made many years ago, with linen cover with some of the best Holbein stitchwork I've ever done (you can't easily tell the front from the back) and knotted fringe. I'm still rather proud of that basket. Can you tell?
But now it's time for tea, perhaps a little chocolate, and a well-earned collapse. I hope your days were pleasant, productive, or even, dare I say it, both.
P.S. No sign of that crystal moon, although I did find the missing end of the bulletin board strip - clear on the other side of the room. No matter, I redid the whole display with individual clear drawing pins, and hung a little feng shui crystal up instead.
