More Organic Embroidery Designs
Apr. 27th, 2011 11:04 amThis one's based on the life cycle of the dandelion, of which there are no shortage of models around. Actually, it's a pretty realistic representation, but that's what I wanted to do.
So, painted Lutradur backed with batik, embroidery floss. Stitches include running stitch, whipped running stitch, French knots, long-stemmed French knots, open chain stitch, straight stitch, satin stitch, a cross-stitch variation with extra layers (which ended up covered anyway) and leaf stitch. At one point, I had considered adding seed beads, but I decided to let the threadwork stand on its own, so to speak. It's about 5x6".

ETA, around 6PM: And I got the three pieces from this class put together into a banner thingy. Photo tomorrow, maybe.
