I have semi-formed random thoughts, which probably won't make sense later, but what the hell:
Doctor Who certainly has grown up.

The Emperor Dalek plot seems very much a child of 9-11 and the subsequent rise of terrorist attacks in England and the rest of the world. Religious fanactic determined to destroy anyone not of his followers, followers willing to die in service of their leader, all of them on a mission to cleanse the world and remake it in their image... Where have I heard that one before?

The Doctor is the Dalek boogyman, hee.

Rose, doing whatever she must to help The Doctor, even if it means risking her own life to get back to him. Bad Wolf turned out to be the thing that tied the entire season together.

I'm sorry to see Eccleston go - he'd rather grown on me. That was a spectacular way to exit, though.

Poor Micky. All that time chasing Rose, worrying about Rose, only to be told that "There's nothing for me here".

Were there slash writer squees all over England when Jack smooched The Doctor? I could almost hear the voice of a certain S'cubie chanting "Threesome! Threesome!"...

Was Rose able to save Earth as well as Cap'n Jack? I really couldn't tell.

Unfortunately, I have no idea when or if I'll get to see any more. The two PBS stations that ran these episodes are in pledge-break mode through June (pledge drives, I hates them forever). I'm going to scrape up some money from the budget and send KLCS a check - they started running DW first, and anyway they're small and need it more.

Anna was watching this when I went to bed; pretty much wiped out by the last couple days, which have consisted of pointless wrangles over formatting in RL as well as re: fic archiving. Also the ants have eaten all the roses I need for the cemetaries.

Anyway, I was really annoyed about Mickie's fate in this episode the first time I watched it; it isn't just that Rose is more interested in travelling through space and time, but that she doesn't want to share.

Julia, and the answer to the slash? is yes, yes, and there's still squeeing even now (not to mention Peter/Claude manips made possible by that base)
