Conversation Heart, the Sequel

Or CH V2, or something like that.
Anyway, I decided to make another heart thingy. This time I adjusted the proportions more to my liking (the original was a bit long and straight-sided), and I used an assortment of batiks, so it's wilder, at least by my standards. It's in what I think of as classic Laurel Burch colors, at least mostly, hot pink and orange and yellow, turquoise and green and purple, and the layout is a lot less symmetrical. It's all stuff from the hoard, mostly left over from other projects, SO I DIDN'T NEED TO BUY ANYTHING NEW THIS TIME GO ME. I'm still embarrassed about owning a whole paper-box-full of batiks, but that's another issue. Some of them are already designated for curtains and clothing and stuff, so go away guilt.
I used three variegated sewing threads for the quilting, purples, blues and greens, and I did some practicing beforehand so I think I've got the sewing machine set better. It's still messy on the back, but since that'll be covered by nice fabric later, I'm trying to ignore it. I also ripped out most of the quilting on the yellow panel because it was too contrasty for my taste, and had to try to remove the needle holes. I think I was successful enough, and anyway I'm thinking of embroidering and beading that bit in shades of yellow, so it'll be covered up.
So anyway, here we are again, quilted and cut into a heart shape:

In other news, it's raining, about half an inch so far, which is badly needed. I drove each daughter to school in her turn; yes, they could've taken public transit, but I remember far too well getting to school soaking wet from my walk to the bus stop, and I'd rather they didn't have to have that particular college experience. I ran errands on the way home anyway, so the drive wasn't wasted, and it got me away from the house for a bit, which didn't hurt either.
Unfortunately, I've got a sinus/tension headache now, so I don't think I'll be doing any more sewing today. I'll just eat lunch, after I make some (where's that wiley lunch fairy when you need it?) and watch some TV, and enjoy the sound of rain on the roof.
