Over the weekend, I finished another online class project, Textured Freeform Embroidery. It's only been, um, a year or so... But it's done and I've been putting things away, so go me.
Anyway,
Materials: Assorted DMC six-strand flosses, DMC and Finca perle cotton in sizes 8 and 5, silk ribbon, on evenweave linen, various and sundry embroidery stitches. Cover is made from black Kona cotton fabric, stiffened with Pellon and fusible webbing, pages are watercolor paper.
The colors are actually brighter, but this is the best I could do. Also, it's pretty close to the colors in the class samples but I like those colors and would've chosen them myself anyway, so there.
The finished journal (it's about 9" tall)

Ditto, showing the spine and binding stitches, embellished with needleweaving and detached needlewoven bands.

The progression of the embroidery project, because I took pictures, so why not
Lesson 1

Lesson 2 (I switched from a scroll frame to a hoop because the frame didn't hold the fabric tautly enough down the sides)

Lesson 3

Lesson 4

Lesson 5, before assembling the journal and cover
