In which there is painting on fabric.

The fabric is a sort of interfacing called Lutradur, with a piece of muslin underneath (which looks kind of interesting where the colors bled through, too).

I used Dye-na-flow fabric paint in purple, green, blue, a little white and a little yellow, sprayed water on top, then put some silver Lumiere paint on bubble plastic and used that to print over the colors. After agonising over it since Thursday last, I finally just went ahead, worked fast and made a big mess. Next time maybe I won't be so nervous.

and a not-as-good photo, just to show off the cool glass darkroom beaker I use for rinsing brushes, another Goodwill find.

As soon as it dries a bit, I'm moving it into the lumber room so the cats can't walk on it; also I need the kitchen table for lunch.

It's a lot more intense than I expected; somehow I pictured it as more muted, maybe because I'm used to batiks. But it's done, and it isn't too bad, so I'll go ahead and embroider on it. But first I have to get my design together, which entails photographing my jacaranda pods on a black surface, and turning one of the photos into a high-contrast image so I can trace the outlines. After lunch, I think.

An hour or so later: It's getting lighter as it dries, which I should have expected. I'll take another photo tomorrow, maybe.
