Finished the project

The conjoined journal box is done. It started as Alma de la Melana Cox's Yin Yang Box class. But there was a lot of preparation about yin and yang and chakras, and I just couldn't wrap my head around it. So I kind of did my own thing. The day and night/dawn and dusk concept really started with the paper for the night journal - I found it and fell in love.

I wish I was better at taking photos. These don't do the colors justice.

Materials: two cheap pine boxes, assorted other bits of wood, acrylic craft paints, batik fabrics, organza ribbon, shisha mirrors, rhinestones, fusible webbing, glue, metal flashing, magnets, Apoxie Sculpt, rubber stamps, vintage clasps.

The night side in progress. I made the gas giant with some fancy organza ribbon, fused it all together into one piece and cut out the planet shape.

Night side done:

And open, with the Japanese journal I made for it and the magnet board. Magnets are Imagine, Dusk, an eye milagro on a wood square, and a spiral using one of my hand-carved stamps.

Day side. I'm not as pleased with this one; the yellow 3D paint was hard to manage and the lines came out thicker than I'd intended.

And open, with journal and magnet board. Magnets: Dawn, Dream, another milagro on wood square, and a winged heart charm on a wood star.

Two more magnets and a pin I made at the same time. Imagine, a star, and Love with two rhinestones.
