Another Project Finished, Finally
It certainly took long enough.
This is the first altered tin from a Carol Murphy online class I took, well, I don't remember anymore, but it's been at least a year. Actually, I just tracked the order in question down, and it's been more than two years; August 2007 for the fall 2007 quarter. A whole lot of family got in the way, I guess.
The second one will use the lid of the tin; I'm going to put a photo of the Daughters in and give it to my mom. But that's for later.
Anyway, I call this one "Butterfly Girl Takes a Flight of Fancy".
The frame is very similar to the class sample, but after that, it took off on its own, so to speak. For one thing, my tin was larger, and for another, my style is... other than Carol's. I like my style better anyway.
The process was interesting; I know it evolved over time, but once I found my lady in her green gown, it became obvious that she needed butterfly wings. After that, it all came together pretty quickly.
So, here's the front:

And here's the back:

Materials include a rectangular 5x7" tin (duh) which I covered with bits of masking tape, then dabbed with brown acrylic paint and brushed with gold, Dresden scrap (black (colored with gold Krylon leafing pen for an antiqued effect) and gold), scrap butterflies, a vintage image and a butterfly I sized up at Kinko's, a skeleton leaf, little wooden blocks, Stickles glitter glue, Scrabble tiles and a couple of poetry beads, all edged with Krylon gold leafing pen.
Reactions from the family were as follows:
Husband: Snickers and eyerolls.
Elder Daughter: "That's... interesting." Followed by explanation that she really did mean interesting in a positive sense. Uh huh. Yeah. Right.
Younger Daughter: "Cool! So that's why the Scrabble game was out."
